Meet Andrew Ziemba

I'm running for State Representative in the 17th District because together, we can do better.

As a proud Canton High School Class of 2005 graduate, longtime resident, with small business ownership experience and as a former member of the Board of Finance and Board of Assessment Appeals, I've learned a lot. Presently, as a residential solar consultant, I travel across the state meeting with hundreds of families each year. I My experience in renewable energy and utilities gives me the practical knowledge needed to tackle some of Connecticut's toughest challenges.

As a millennial husband, father, and son of a Polish immigrant refugee, I understand the importance of hard work, opportunity, and strong communities. I'm running to protect the quality of life that makes Canton and Avon such great places to live, work, and raise a family.

Connecticut families are being squeezed from every direction. We live in one of the most expensive states in the nation, yet too many of the policies coming out of Hartford are failing to deliver results. Our state has had a one party super majority for quite a while, and the results speak for themselves. I am running to restore balance to the state legislature.

For more than a decade, state education funding for our towns has remained flat while unfunded mandates continue to drive up local costs. The result has been higher property taxes on seniors and working families. We need a fair Education Cost Sharing formula that restores funding for Canton and Avon.

Electric bills continue to climb while state leaders offer short-term fixes instead of long-term solutions. Worst of all, much of the recent aid has come from bonding, not balancing the budget, or cutting waste. Our debt per capita is one of the worst in the nation and it’s worsening by the day! Connecticut needs an energy policy focused on affordability, reliability, accountability, and modern infrastructure.

We're also losing local control over planning and development decisions. Hartford bureaucrats and special interests should not have more influence over our communities than the people who live here. We must protect local decision-making, preserve open space, and maintain the character of our towns. My opponent has spearheaded the effort to strip local control and continues to double down. I am a strong advocate for local, accountable government. I will work to restore order in this regard.

I believe we can find practical solutions that bring people together and deliver real results. As your State Representative, I will always put Canton and Avon first, work across party lines, and fight for the interests of our communities.

It's time for leadership that listens, leads, and delivers. We also need leadership that can openly admit that the two party system is failing our towns, our state, and our nation. I am an independent thinker and cannot be bought. My allegiance is to the Constitution and to the people above all else.

I would be honored to earn your vote, your support, and the opportunity to serve as your next State Representative. Please contact me with any questions.
